DCS Energy Savings Punchestown

Punchestown Racecourse has achieved 15% energy savings within the last year thanks to DCS Energy Savings phase 1 works.

Background

Due to ever increasing energy prices, Punchestown Racecourse explored the possibilities of saving energy within their facility at Nass, Co.Kildare.

"Electricity costs had gone through the roof and we just had to do something about it. We were unable to find a quick and easy solution to reduce our spiraling energy costs until we heard about the DCS Energy Savings solution", said Richard Galway, General Manager, Punchestown Racecourse.

Survey

DCS Energy Savings carried out an initial survey on site which revealed the scope for substantial savings to be achieved through voltage regulation. This was confirmed by the installation of a temporary power monitor and an extensive visual survey of the facility. On completion DCS Energy Savings proposed the supply and installation of an adequately sized voltage regulator.

Implementation

DCS Energy Savings issued an installation programme compiling of the following:

  • Delivery and off loading of equipment
  • Planning and co-ordination of subcontractors
  • Shut down procedures and duration
  • Installation and commissioning of equipment with minimum inconvenience to the client

Savings

To date Punchestown Racecourse has achieved 15% energy savings equating to 12,000 Euros per annum. "We are delighted with the savings and the professional service during the implementation of this project.  We now look forward to the next phase of the project", said Richard Galway, General Manager, Punchestown Racecourse.

"Having achieved such substantial savings we are now working with Punchestown Racecourse on the next phase of energy saving measures", said Donal Sugrue, MD of DCS Energy Savings.

Plans for the Future

DCS Energy Savings are currently implementing a unique wireless monitoring solution which allows for the measurement of power consumption, temperature control and water metering within the Punchestown facility. This will yield 20% to 30% additional energy savings within the next 12 months.
